Notifications

The server scans all device events every minute and generates e-mail and/or SMS notifications for selected critical events.

Attention: e-mail notifications are free of charge, while SMS notifications are billed separately. Each device includes 250 SMS messages. Once these messages are used, additional SMS messages must be purchased to continue receiving SMS notifications. If the SMS credits are depleted, the system will continue to send e-mail notifications, but no SMS messages will be sent. Please visit this section to learn more about purchasing SMS credits.

E-mail and SMS notifications have cooldown periods. Once a notification is sent for a given event, a waiting period is enforced to prevent inboxes from being flooded with redundant messages. In addition, the SMS cooldown period is significantly longer to conserve SMS credits.

  • E-mail notifications have a 15-minute cooldown. Once a notification for a given event is sent, no additional e-mail notifications will be sent for that event within the next 15 minutes.

  • SMS notifications have a 6-hour cooldown. Once a notification for a given event is sent, no additional SMS notifications will be sent for that event within the next 6 hours.

Notification triggers

Notifications are sent only for potentially dangerous situations, such as:

  • Fence voltage drop – Below a user-defined threshold (adjustable between 2000 V and 4000 V).

  • Supply voltage drop – Below a user-defined threshold (adjustable between 10.5 V and 11.6 V).

  • Device location change – Movement greater than 50 meters.

  • Device becomes off-line.

No notifications are sent for favorable or recovery events – the fence or supply voltage restores, or the device becomes on-line again.

Notification content

If a single event occurs, the notification contains details of that event. If multiple events occur within the same scan cycle, the notification includes information about each event separately.

To prevent excessive messaging, notifications are temporarily suppressed if multiple events occur within a short period. In such cases, the user should:

  • Check the dl-smart.eu website for the complete list of events.

  • Physically inspect the device to resolve fence or supply voltage issues.

  • Review the location history if theft or unauthorized movement is suspected.
